After trying out a couple of different venues I can now confirm that a
Meditation for Recovery group will hold it’s first ‘sitting’ on Monday 30th
November in Newbury, Berkshire.
The meeting details are:-
- Venue: Quaker Friends Meeting
House<http://www.mid-thames-quakers.co.uk/local-meetings/newbury>
- Day: Weekly on a Monday or a Wednesday (see website below for current
details)
- Time: 8.00pm – 9.30pm
- Group Type: Meditation and Recovery Group. The meetings will include
Buddhist meditation practices, talks and discussion. The meetings will
initially be facilitated by Vince Cullen.
- Address: 1 Highfield Avenue, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 5DS
- Other info: The intention of this group is simply to support our own
and each other’s ongoing recovery from addictions using various Buddhist
meditation techniques and discussion.
- Group membership is aimed at anyone in recovery regardless of previous
meditation experience. You do not have to be a Buddhist to meditate with us,
however a commitment to all Five Buddhist Precepts will help to ensure a
common understanding of acceptable group behaviour.
- Contact: Phone 07909-545380 Email info at 5th-precept.org
- Web site http://www.5th-precept.org
There is growing scientific as well as anecdotal evidence of the benefits of
meditation for recovery; but knowing this is not enough… *it is the time
spent on the cushion that counts.*
I hope you can join me.
Vince
